For Jack’s Cub Scout meeting he had to bring a cake for auction that he and his Daddy made together.
Jack designed the face and Andy drew it out.
Jack helped fill it in.
He did such a great job and he didn’t want to give it up so they had the option to buy the cake back for $15 otherwise it would be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
Because the Cub Scouts met their set quota for the amount of new Tiger Cubs they were all treated to reduced fare at the Country Springs Indoor Water Park which is just only twenty minutes away from our house. What better way to spend a cold crummy day then in a super heated water world full of all kinds of rides and adventures?
Each of the boys was so enamored by the rides and fun that they had no problem venturing off to do their own thing. Alex loved the shallow pool with the windy slide and the giant bucket that dumped water every few minutes. He’s very much the big boy now and will put his head fully under water and “swim”.

and also a lounging pool with a basketball hoop in the middle.
The best had to be the giant slides which they went on again and again.
Seems like one day all our trees just up and dropped their leaves. Of course this is the fourth time they have done this and I still see more leaves clinging for dear life. It did make for some good fall fun when the boys, their Daddy, and their Uncle Mark came up with a agme called Leaf Ball, which is just an excuse to throw giant balls of leaves at each other.
Poor Echo was forced to have fun and had no idea what was going on when she laid down and had mounds of leaves piled on top of her.
Everyone got a turn. Can you see Andy under all that dead foliage?
Jack might be a bit easier to find with giant eyes and gap toothed grin.
Alex wouldn’t let them cover him up too much and hopped out almost immediately.
Now, here’s hoping the wind takes all the leaves to the neighbors yard so I don’t have to rake.

I just had to share this with everyone. Jack is a Tiger Cub Scout and they put out a monthly newsletter and somehow my sweet little boy ended up in it. You can just see how much he loves the program!
The whole reason we decided to clear out the garden was specifically to pick the pumpkins so that we could do our pumpkin carvings with the kids. While poor Andy had to be at work, we did have Grandma Ann and Uncle Mark over for some added fun.
Jack probably got more into it than Alex did as Alex wasn’t to keen on the slimy guts of the pumpkins that we had to clean out in order to carve them. Jack, on the other hand, loved it.
He would clean out the guts and separate the seeds into the bowl so we could roast them and really enjoyed the sliminess of the seed bowl and how they stuck to him and squished though his fingers.
Ann didn’t do any of the carving, but she was our official seed separator which is no easy task.
Alex designed the pumpkins and Mark was the official carver.
I think we all had fun and the kids really did behave well and there were no major injuries.
Our finished works of art were left on the table until Andy got home so he could enjoy all of our hard work. We ended up leaving the biggest one for him to carve so he could be a part of our Halloween fun as well. He did his the next morning with the kids watching.
So we had a fairly pleasant day on Saturday and decided to go ahead and gather up the rest of what was growing in our garden before the weather gets truly terrible and cold. I have to say that I was a little shocked by what we were able to gather because it has been a bit colder and I thought most of my plants had stopped producing. I think the pumpkins make it look like more than there actually is, but we still got a pretty good haul.
We got a total of seven good pumpkins, five watermelons, one ginormous zucchini that had hidden itself for quite awhile, and numerous peppers, dwarf eggplants, and small tomatoes.
How this zucchini was able to hide is beyond me. I think I just thought there would be no more plants so I stopped searching for them.
Now I just have to figure out what to do with all of the produce because there is no way we will be able to eat it all.
