I am actually doing a pretty good job of taking things slow with the decorations this year. I usually put everything up all in one day and wear myself out, but I am successfully done with day two and still have another day or two to go.
Today was the Christmas Village and it is my favorite thing to do and the kids get so excited to help set it up. Except for the unboxing of everything, I love deciding where things will go and making this little town come to life. The kids love it when we put up the village and like to see it lit up when all the lights are off in the living room so they can get the full effect.
We have several different kinds of trees and buildings and even have a bunch of lamp posts that light up as well. We only just started the Village just before we left San Diego so this may be the fourth year that we have had it. Every year my village has grown by at least one building. Usually no more than that as Andy likes to help pick them out and he is very particular on what looks right and what doesn’t. Also, we try to get them when they are on clearance after Christmas and it makes our choices limited.
We found a great 1920’s buffet when we were in San Diego that fits nicely in the living room and it makes the perfect spot for our little setup. I still see a lot of white so it looks like we aren’t done yet. I kind of want the ice skating pond, but I think it might be a little overwhelming not to mention the space it takes up. I guess I’ll just have to shop around and see what I find when the holidays are over.
