Jack’s Star Student day

Each Wednesday in Jack’s kindergarten class they have a different Star Student who gets to spend about an hour talking about themselves and all the things they like. You get to invite your family and make a poster and bring your favorite toys and even serve snacks after wards. Jack had to wait nearly the entire school year before he got his turn and I must say he did a very good job.

He told me exactly what he wanted on his poster and I printed the pictures out and made some pictures with my Cricut to help him get everything he wanted onto the poster. He picked out several of his favorite things to play with and brought everything to school all by himself. he chose Jell-O cups for the snack to serve. The teacher said he made a very good choice because not only had no one chosen to bring Jell-O cups before, but they are a relatively healthy when compared to the cupcakes and candy other people have brought.

Both Andy and myself were able to attend as his special guests while he stood up and gave a very nice presentation. He loves to talk so this was right up his alley. They allow about an hour for the presentation and I recalled thinking to myself, “How could he possibly give an hour presentation?” Very easily. The hour not only includes him telling all about himself, but also questions from each of his classmates and teacher and time at the end for each child to pick something that they learned about Jack and draw a picture representing it.

His teacher is really amazing in that she takes a lot of photos of all the special little things that they do and posts them on the class website for Elmwood Elementary. This is especially helpful to me as sometimes I feel as though I am missing out on my little boy growing up and this helps me to participate in a small way.
