We have been growing sunflowers in our back yard and they have been getting huge! They are so tall and heavy that we have had to prop them up. So we got some rope and tied them up to the fence to make them stand up. Anyway, some of the sunflowers are so large that we finally had to cut them down. The biggest one broke its stalk on its own and we are hanging it up to dry. Hopefully, we will be able to bake the seeds and eat them!
I asked Jack to take a picture with the biggest sunflower head just so we could get a point of reference for how big it actually is. Alex wanted to take his picture holding the sunflower too, but I had to get it quick because it was almost too heavy for him to hold. You can see in the picture how much he is straining to keep it up where we can see it.
Who knew sunflowers could get so big so fast… besides other people who grow them.
